Packing Tips
• Brace the door open to prevent sudden closing.
• Disassemble as much as possible to save space in your container.
• Distribute the weight evenly throughout the containers, do not put all the weight to one side of the container.
• Do not put all heavy items in one container, and all light items in another.
• Put heavy items on the bottom and light items on top.
• Protect your items with packing supplies, such as moving quilts and bubble wrap.
• Pack your items as tight as possible to prevent shifting and damage.
• Use the proper size boxes. Place heavier items in small boxes for easy lifting.
• Fill boxes completely. This will reduce crushing and shifting.
• Close & tape the boxes. Closed boxes take up less space & will provide greater protection.
• Mark your boxes with a list of contents. This will make it easier to find things.
• Make an inventory list of each container.
• Keep things you need up front.
Safety First!
• Do NOT load more than 2,000 lbs in one container.
• Do NOT place flammable, hazardous or illegal materials in your container.
• Do NOT store liquids or food in your container.

Storage Tips
Furniture
• Disassemble whenever possible, this will save a lot of space.
• Cover your furniture with moving quilts, bubble wrap, or paper pads for protection.
• Place mattresses & box springs in our protective bags, and store against the side wall of the container.
• Stand your sofa on end, using a paper pad, or moving quilt to protect the arm rests. This will save a lot of room, and also guard against
damaging the cushions.
• Wrap tabletops, legs, and the leaf of the table in moving quilts to prevent scratching.
• Put all hardware in a plastic bag, and tape to the underside of the tabletop.
Mirrors, Glass & Pictures
• Wrap mirrors & pictures with bubble wrap, and use a mirror/picture box.
• You can also place mirrors and pictures between your box spring & mattress for added protection
• NEVER lay mirrors or glass flat in the container
Breakables
• Use our special Glass Packs & Dish Packs for greater protection. They come with foam pouches and dividers that fit into a small box,
preventing breakage.
• You can also use these Packs to protect Hummels, or little ceramic knick-knacks.
Clothing
• Wardrobe boxes are made especially for clothing. You can put shoes and folded items on the bottom, and use the hanger bar to hang
clothes you do not want to fold.
Books & Paper Items
• The #1 mistake most people make is to put books and paper items into a medium or large box. ONLY use a small box for books or
paper, the weight adds up, and even a small box will quickly become heavy.
Large Appliances
• Clean thoroughly, and drain all water before storing.
• Leave refrigerator doors slightly open to prevent mildew.
• Tape down all moving parts.
• You can store lightweight items inside the appliance if they are padded properly.
Tools
• Small tools should be stored in toolboxes, slightly wiped with oil to prevent rusting, and store the toolbox on the floor of the container.
• Large tools, like garden tools, should be tied or taped together whenever possible.
• Lawn mowers should be completely drained of gas, and the handles should be folded down to save space in the container. DO NOT
store a lawn mower on top of anything.
•
As with lawn mowers, ANY gas powered item MUST be drained of gas before storing.
